The IFAC Nominating Committee makes recommendations regarding the composition of IFAC boards and committees. It is guided by the principle of choosing the candidate with the best qualifications to fill these volunteer roles. The Nominating Committee's terms of reference further explain the committee's purpose and principles. PurposeThe IFAC Nominating Committee makes recommendations to the IFAC Council regarding the composition of the IFAC Board and candidates for the office of Deputy President. The Nominating Committee recommends to the IFAC Board the appointment of chairs, deputy chairs, members and public members to IFAC boards and committees. OversightThe Public Interest Oversight Board (PIOB) approves the appointments to IFAC's Public Interest Activity Committees (PIACs), which are the International Accounting Education Standards Board, International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board, International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants, and the Compliance Advisory Panel. The PIOB also has the right to observe and speak at Nominating Committee meetings where PIAC appointments are made. ActivitiesEach calendar year, the Nominating Committee issues a call for nominations for vacancies on IFAC boards and committees. Nominations may be submitted by member bodies and the Forum of Firms and, in instances where public members are sought for specific boards, members of the public may submit nominations. The Nominating Committee seeks a broad regional and professional representation as well as representations from countries with different levels of economic development. Nominating ProcessTransparency is fundamental to the Nominating Committee's processes. The following provides information on the nominations process and how to submit candidates for terms on IFAC boards and committees commencing in 2011.
Board and Committee Performance ProgramIn the past few years, IFAC has experienced considerable growth and success as an international organization. At the same time, the expectations placed on the work of our boards and committees have increased. The quality of the output of boards and committees, as well as their credibility, is ultimately affected by the performance of their members. IFAC aims to clearly define the performance expectations for all members. Through the Board and Committee Performance Program, the Nominating Committee annually reviews the performance of volunteers on IFAC boards and committees. Chairs and members evaluate each other by filling out confidential forms and submitting them to the Nominating Committee. These review forms are distributed via an online survey. For more information please refer to the Board and Committee Performance Program 2009.
