  • TRANSLATION INFORMATION

IFAC’s Online Permission Requests and Inquiry (OPRI) system is available to those interested in reproducing or translating an IFAC, IAASB, IESBA, or IPSASB publication. Accurate, high-quality translations are crucial to ensuring the consistent global implementation of international standards.

With your help, each year we facilitate hundreds of translations of IFAC content, including standards and supporting materials from the standard-setting boards (SSBs). Thanks to the work of dozens of different organizations, we reach professional accountants in over 25 different languages. To view a list of translated content, please visit the Translations Database.

  • INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS INFORMATION

The International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB), International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA), and International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (IPSASB) are all standard-setting boards that produce high-quality standards for audit and assurance, professional ethics and public sector financial reporting.

The most significant benefit available to individuals visiting the website is free access to the work of the standard-setting boards. Digital access to high-quality standards is valuable to any professional  accountant who incorporates IAASB, IPSASB, and IESBA standards in their work or who intends to implement them in the future. When you access these sites, you stay logged in with the account you used on IFAC.org.

The standards that the boards issue are available on our eIS Platform, which users from around the world can access for free.

Standards can also be accessed as PDFs on the boards’ websites, or ordered as hard copies.

Users may also find it useful to access our Pathways to Accrual tool, developed to assist public sector entities who wish to transition from cash to accrual-based accounting, among other things.

Keep in mind that IAASB, IPSASB, and IESBA do not provide certifications or licenses for international standards. We recommend you reach out to a PAO in your jurisdiction to determine if such certifications and courses are available to you. There is, however, guidance available to support the implementation of international standards. Please see visit our implementation guide hub to see all publications related to international standards implementation.

For an interactive map showing which global jurisdictions have adopted International Standards on Auditing, the Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants, the International Public Sector Accounting Standards, other international standards, please visit our Adoption Status page.

For an interactive map showing the Public Sector Financial Accountability Index, please visit our Public Sector Financial Accountability Index page.

  • USING THE SEARCH TOOL

If you are looking for specific content on the IFAC website, there is a search tool in top right corner of the IFAC website. If you are searching for content related to a general topic (for example “practice transformation”), you can filter your results.

You can also filter by “Type”. There are 10 types of content on the IFAC website. They are:

Bios – IFAC, IAASB, IESBA, and IPSASB staff and board members, as well as contributors to the IFAC Knowledge Gateway all have bios on the website.

Exposure Drafts & Other Consultations – All standards issued by the IAASB, IESBA and IPSASB standards are first issued for public consultation as Exposure Drafts during the development process. This public comment period allows all stakeholders to review the draft standard and provide feedback, which helps shape the final standard. Exposure drafts are also viewable in the “Consultations & Projects” section of each of the SSBs’ websites.

Gateway Articles – The Knowledge Gateway is a hub for shared global accountancy knowledge. Many of the articles featured on the Knowledge Gateway are authored by members and leaders of professional accountancy organizations from around the globe. The articles allow PAOs to share their knowledge and accomplishments

Meetings – IFAC frequently hosts meetings of its advisory groups, which are closed to the public, and SSBs also often meet online and in person, which are open to the public. If you are part of an IFAC advisory group or SSB and are logged into your IFAC.org account, you can access past and future meeting documents on the meeting’s web page.

News – IFAC and SSBs frequently issue press releases to update stakeholders on recent publications, announcements and accomplishments.

Points of View – The “Points of View” section of the IFAC website describes IFAC’s position on matters like regulatory fragmentation, fraud, corruption, sustainability, and corporate reporting.

Projects – Before standards are set by the SSBs and the IFAC education team, they begin as projects. Projects generally go through several stages before becoming standards, including an initial information gathering stage, a project proposal stage, an exposure draft development stage (as described above), and completion.

Publications – IFAC and SSBs frequently release studies, frameworks, guidance, and more as downloadable PDFs on the IFAC and SSB websites. These publications are intended to help professional accountants understand a variety of topics including, but not limited to, new standards and how to implement them, sustainability reporting data, small- and medium-sized practice transformation, and governance and risk management. Often these publications are translated into local languages in order to reach the broadest audience possible. If a publication you’re interested in is not available in your language and you would like to translate it, please submit a translation request via OPRI.

Resources from IFAC’s Network – Some materials on the IFAC Knowledge Gateway are from websites other than IFAC.org. These resources are links to outside websites curated by IFAC that we believe will be useful to PAOs and professional accountants.

If you are having any trouble navigating the site or finding the information you need, we recommend reaching out to communications@ifac.org. Thank you for using IFAC.org.
