Accounting for climate

Date: March 25, 2021 | Time: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

COMPLETED

What significance do climatic conditions have for financial results, assets, liabilities and cash flows? Gain a greater understanding of the connection between climate impacts and the company's accounts at this year's first dialogue meeting with the participation of Stathis Gould from IFAC and other international experts.

Every year, FSR - Danish auditors hold a series of dialogue meetings on topics related to corporate social responsibility and sustainability. The first dialogue meeting in 2021 will focus on the connection between climate impacts and the company's returns, the value of balance sheet items and cash flows.

According to section 99 a, the statement of social responsibility must, among other things, ensure an understanding of the company's development, result and situation. It is important for confidence-building communication in the annual report that there is coherence between the statement of climate-related risks, the company's climate policy and the achieved and expected results in the management's report and the financial statements in the annual accounts.

The following issues will be discussed at the dialogue meeting:

  • Why are climate-related issues relevant to auditors and accountants
  • How climate-related issues are integrated into financial reporting
  • Next step in addressing these issues

The dialogue meeting will be held digitally in collaboration with Danish Industry on 25 March 2021 at 15-17 and is facilitated by Jane Thostrup Jagd, member of FSR - Danish auditor's committee for corporate social responsibility and sustainability, rounded off by Kristian Koktvedgaard from DI. The international experts are Stathis Gould, Director at IFAC, Barbara Davidson, Senior Analyst at Carbon Tracker and Simon Weaver, Partner at KPMG UK. There will be an opportunity to ask questions to the experts at the meeting.

The speakers speak on the basis of the international accounting standards, but knowledge of this is not a prerequisite, and the treatment of the subject has the same relevance for accounts submitted in accordance with the Danish Financial Statements Act.

The meeting will be held in English.
