A joint IFAC-ACCA-CAANZ event, in collaboration with the OECD
The OECD’s report Tax Morale: What Drives People and Businesses to Pay Tax? shows that the willingness of individuals and businesses to voluntarily pay tax can be improved through better understanding of the complex interlinkages between enforcement, trust in government and the ease of compliance. Public trust is indeed vital to the effectiveness and sustainability of any tax system. Citizens across G20 countries are concerned about transparency, complexity and inequity in tax systems, but they are also aware of the international tax landscape and understand the need for trade-offs in tax policy.
Addressing these concerns, IFAC (The International Federation of Accountants), ACCA (The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), and CAANZ (Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand) have run a series of ground-breaking surveys across the G20 seeking to understand public opinion on a range of tax relevant matters and well as joint regional roundtable with the OECD, looking at the issues from an international policy perspective and discuss the importance of public engagement and trust in systems of tax collection.
Following-up on the historic global agreement endorsed by G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors, which aims to bring fairness and stability to the international corporate tax framework, IFAC, ACCA and CAANZ, in collaboration with the OECD are delighted to invite you to a lively event to discuss with renown experts the main findings of the 2021 edition of Public Trust in tax, that will be launched on this occasion, and how to enhance the effectiveness, sustainability and fairness of global tax systems.
